Step for Life Walk

Tanya Jacques, LSM's Safety Coordinator, attended the Day of Mourning ceremony yesterday at Safety City in Grande Prairie, AB. The ceremony was hosted by the Grande Prairie Regional Safety Committee and the Alberta Construction Safety Association in partnership with Safe Communities. Last year, 125 workers died from work related accidents; each of those workers leaves heartbroken loved ones. During the ceremony  Margaret Johansen shared some stories about her husband.  Margaret lost her husband, Andy Hodgins, three years ago in a workplace incident.  After she finished speaking, a moment of silence was observed. It was a very touching and thought provoking ceremony.

Please take a moment to remember the workers and to renew your commitment to creating a safe workplace. You CAN make a difference.
The GPRSC invites everyone to join Steps for Life, the fundraiser for Threads for Life which helps family members facing a workplace tragedy. This event is on May 7 at Muskoseepi Park. Registration begins at 10, the walk starts at 11. There is a BBQ after and activities for kids. For more information on this organization and event go to http://threadsoflife.ca .
